Mansard Loft conversion with Study in Merton SW20 | Landmark Lofts

This mansard loft conversion created a tailored design for the family, so that they could enjoy the ultimate living experience. Claire and John are happy that they opted to convert their attic, rather than relocate.

The Project

Having lived in their end of terrace property for a few years, Claire and John felt they needed more space to accommodate their growing family. In considering their options, they thought about upsizing in the same area, however, converting their attic would be more affordable. Although they didn’t set out looking for an environmentally friendly solution, that idea became more appealing the more they thought about having a loft conversion.

Our Approach

At Landmark Lofts, we take pride in working with a client to accomplish their vision and satisfy their needs. This project presented an exciting opportunity to create a design that would suit the family’s needs. The project manager researched, designed and installed bespoke built-in cupboards in their bathroom focusing on making the best use of space. The project also involved breaking through two rooms downstairs to create a larger living area, as well as a light tunnel above the kitchen.

Claire says:

“There was one issue with the height of the upstairs room, and one company thought they’d have to lower the ceiling– that would have been a huge, messy and expensive job, but Landmark were able to do it without going down that road.”

The Result

The new project added a substantial 350 square feet of additional living space to their property. Claire and John are pleased with the result which has created an expansive master bedroom with an en-suite bathroom, a bedroom for one of their children, and it also involved a refurbishment of their kitchen.

Both rooms feature Velux windows, which let natural light flood into the rooms. The windows are undressed, creating a clean visual. The design also incorporates built-in storage in the eaves of the bedrooms, demonstrating efficient use of space. The family is happy with the extensive development of the kitchen area, which complements the design of the existing property.

John says:

 

“We are really happy with the new arrangement of the house and we love living here. My estimate is that it has already gone up in value by the amount that we paid for the work.”
