Spacious guest suite that doesn’t scrimp on storage | Landmark Lofts

Modern and homely, this loft conversion created the perfect home for a growing family. "We absolutely love our new bedroom. It's just fantastic having all that space!"- Bryn

The Project

When Bryn and his wife Helen bought their three bedroom house in Tolworth, they could see the untapped potential in their home, although they knew that there was a substantial amount of work to be done. Having managed most of the refurbishments in their home, they sought a reliable company to project manage their loft conversion.

Their main objective was creating a space for visiting family and friends, without compromising their existing storage space. For the new loft, they visualised a spacious bedroom with built-in storage, not an en-suite. They specifically wanted a separate bathroom. Concerned about how hot it would get in the summer, they were keen to incorporate a Juliet balcony into the design of the new bedroom.

Our Approach

With a focus on efficient use of space, our design team incorporated built-in cupboards into the eaves in the bedroom, under the two large Velux windows. As the design would be an L-shaped hip-to-gable dormer, the pod room would serve as a separate bathroom, thereby creating more space in the bedroom.

Bryn explains:

"We wanted a more spacious bedroom with plenty of storage built in rather than having an en-suite."

The Result

The conversion transformed their attic into a fabulous new bedroom for guests and family to stay in, and a modern bathroom with under-floor heating. Two Velux windows flood the cosy new bedroom with light and the beautiful Juliet balcony creates a great sense of space in the generously-sized room. Storage under the eaves maximises every inch of space, complemented by bespoke pull-out drawers featured in the side wall. The under floor heating in the gorgeous new bathroom infuses the space with comfort, and Bryn and Helen are incredibly pleased with the outcome of the project.

Ecstatic, Helen says:

“I was adamant about getting a Juliet balcony as I was worried about how hot it would get in summer. As it turns out it works really well at keeping the room cool and the room feels even lighter and spacious.”
