Bright brick feature completes this compact conversion | Landmark Lofts

This loft is a gorgeous dormer that was converted from a 1960s timber-framed roof. Adrian is "delighted" and says "everyone who has been over since the conversion is surprised we could do what we've done."

The Project

Adrian and his family wished to generate more space in their property in Merton. As the area was convenient for work, he didn't want to move and his daughter was finally returning home from university. The family needed more space and after much deliberation, they decided to convert their attic. Adrian envisioned a new bedroom and bathroom at the top of his mid terrace house and he was also keen to create a new space that would enhance the existing property.

Our Approach

We were delighted to work with Adrian to accomplish his vision. After he attended a few short meetings with our in-house architects and structural engineers, we devised a design plan proposing a dormer conversion, along with a Juliet balcony he had dreamt of having. In order to provide a tailored service, we focused on key areas that were highlighted in our meetings with Adrian. Light was an important factor and he was also eager to maximise space available in the new loft, by incorporating built-in storage.

Pleased with Landmark Lofts' flexibility, Adrian says:

“I had plenty of interaction and involvement. I have to say the whole process was brilliant!”

The Result

The dormer conversion created an exquisite new loft and Adrian is thrilled to have an additional bedroom and bathroom in his home. Brilliant design and contemporary style are wonderfully embodied in the new space. Light is a key element for Adrian and the two large Velux windows above the bed and in the bathroom area flood the space with light.

A stylish feature of the new room is the large glass wall partition through which light travels uninterrupted between the two spaces. The gorgeous balcony doors and full length windows open up the room, and bespoke wardrobe storage built into the side walls maximise space even further, offering a seamless visual.
