Wayne, Nicola and their three children had recently moved into their semi-detached, four bedroom house in Croydon when Nicola discovered she was pregnant. The couple had planned to have another baby and already had an eye on a loft conversion when they bought the property. They pictured a luxurious master bedroom with an en-suite bathroom. However, when they discovered they were having twins, the emphasis shifted from a new bedroom for themselves to creating two new rooms for each of their little ones. Once Jake and Ella were born, the couple decided to go ahead and they contacted us.
Wayne was aware of Landmark as we had carried out several loft conversions on his road in Wimbledon where he lived previously, and as a result the couple decided to contact us. Our reputation and comprehensive service appealed to them, and as busy parents with five children, they wanted to ensure the entire process would be managed for them. With this in mind, they chose us to make their house a home fit for the whole family.
Nicola explained that they chose us because:
“We wanted to go with someone we knew we could trust.”
Our architects drew up plans for a dormer-style loft conversion that would provide the family with a new bedroom for each of the twins, along with an additional fully fitted bathroom, giving them a much needed second shower. While they had the chance to input into the design process, Wayne and Nicola were happy with what they saw.
Nicola, who looks after her young children full time, was concerned about the disruption that having major building works could entail. However, the couple were delighted with the build team, describing them as very thoughtful, tidy and consultative. The build was initially expected to take 10 weeks, but as the family were due to go on holiday, the team endeavoured to get it completed before then. They managed to get it finished in just six weeks.
Now that Wayne and Nicola’s loft conversion is finished, Ella and Jake each have a room to call their own, while the other children keep their own bedrooms on the first floor. Until the twins are old enough to move in, the couple’s loft conversion makes for two bright and spacious playrooms, and the extra bathroom is paying dividends! The couple are thrilled with the way their loft conversion turned out, with the build and the finished rooms thoroughly exceeding their expectations.
Commenting on the finished result, Nicola told us that:
“I love how much it looks like an extra floor that’s always been there.”
