Having lived with two lodgers in her three-bedroom, one-bathroom home, Amy felt it was time to get a space of her own for herself and her partner. Although she considered finding a one or two bedroom flat, she liked living in her current house which is less than a 10 minute walk from Hammersmith station. There was another way to get the extra space and privacy she wanted without moving; having her loft converted.
Amy researched, and got quotes from, several companies. However, as she knew someone who had also chosen Landmark, she felt confident in our ability to deliver a high standard, and as a larger company, we were able to guarantee that the project would start as soon as the necessary permissions were granted. With her partner due to move in, there would be four people in the house, and so it was important to get the loft built as soon as possible.
Amy decided the loft should consist of a master bedroom and a generously sized bathroom. Our architects designed the rooms to make the best possible use of the available space, within permitted development. She was happy with the first design we came up with, which would ensure plenty of natural light reached the bedroom, including a large roof dome in the landing to illuminate the stairs.
While she was concerned about living through the building works, she found her Landmark project manager to be very reassuring and informative, whilst the building team worked quickly and efficiently.
Amy is delighted with her bright, spacious new master bedroom and bathroom. Cupboards built into the eaves and fitted wardrobes maximise storage space in the room and help keep the space open and uncluttered. The white walls, combined with the three windows and spotlights in the ceiling, ensure the room is well lit throughout the day.
Amy’s new loft has enabled her and her partner to have a sense of privacy, being on their own floor with a bathroom to themselves, whilst still benefitting from the extra income of having a lodger, who also now has more space and the use of their own bathroom. Amy has already recommended Landmark to her cousin who has also chosen us for their loft conversion.
Based on the average per square foot values in Hammersmith, Amy’s loft conversion could have added as much as £250,000 to the value of her home, representing an excellent return on the investment.
